Covid-19 Message to patients of Castle Street Dental Practice

As you are aware, we are experiencing some unique and challenging situations during this covid-19 outbreak.

The most recent guidance from our chief dental officer of NHS England which was published on the 25th March now states that we cannot see patients face to face until further notice.

All dental practices NHS or private now have to establish a remote urgent care service, providing telephone triage for our patients with urgent needs.

This will include:

  • Advice
  • Analgesia (appropriate pain killers)
  • Antimicrobial (anti-biotics if required)

If a prescription is required, these will be remotely prescribed and emailed straight to the pharmacy for patient collection.

If your condition cannot be managed by these means, then we would need to refer you to the Local Urgent Dental Care system.

These systems have been established to meet the distinct needs of the following groups within the population with urgent dental care needs:

  • Patients who are possible or confirmed COVID-19 patients – including patients with symptoms, or those living in their household
  • Patients who are shielded – those who are at most significant risk from COVID-19
  • Patients who are vulnerable / at increased risk from COVID-19
  • Patients who do not fit categories 1 to 3

Each local Urgent Dental Care system will involve provision at a number of sites in a way that allows appropriate separation and treatment of patients in the categories I have just mentioned.

There is a range of conditions provided by the local Urgent Dental Care system and we will be triaging patients on a case by case basis on the conditions we have been given.

If you have a dental emergency please leave your full name, date of birth, approximately when you last visited this practice plus your contact number and we will ring you back.

With kind regards

Samantha Snoad | Managing Director
